It's been another busy week! The children in Years 3 and 4 have really enjoyed the new style of online learning this week, especially in Maths and there has been lots of hard work shown when completing Reading and English tasks. Our focus for the afternoons this week was 'Ancient Greeks'. Lots of the children already knew some interesting facts and impressed the adults with their knowledge! We thought about the importance of some of the Ancient Greek symbols and ways of life and how we could link this to our own. We continued to practise our Art and DT skills and have created some fantastic pieces from this! Luckily, the children managed to spend time outside and explored the woodland area by the field. They collected a range of natural materials to make their own maze.
Week beginning 15th June 2020
The children have had another busy, successful week, working especially hard in the mornings to complete their Edmodo work. We've even been improving some general knowledge with a daily quiz which they have definitely learned lots from! Luckily, we have been able to enjoy some sunshine this week and managed to complete an obstacle course on the field. This week's focus for our afternoons was 'Rainforests'. The children have identified different animals that can be found in this habitat and why this might be. They have worked hard to create lovely Art and DT creations, some of which will be built on next week. Stay tuned to see what the finished trioramas look like!
Week beginning 8th June 2020
We have had a great week this week. We have gotten used to all of the little changes and have been working hard on our Edmodo learning in the mornings. We have spent the afternoons working on art and projects based on a chosen topic. This week, we focused on 'Explorers'. We talked about what it means and looked at all of the different ways to explore. We have researched using computers, drawn portraits of famous explorers and created art and DT work inspired by space exploration and deep sea diving. As well as this, we have tried to get outside to play games as much as possible. We have had a 'Funday Friday' which started with a whole session outside where we played lots of games, including rounders (we love this game!).
Monday 1st June – Friday 5th June
Well, what a brilliant week we have had! Week 11 has been so much fun for all the children and adults. We started the week by designing and painting our own flower pots. We then planted some begonias in them and took them home to brighten our gardens. We have enjoyed being outdoors, in the sunshine, and spent some time doing more work in the Happy Garden. We tended to the plants and painted more fencing to make it look fresh and colourful. Also, we created beautiful, bright windmills and placed those amongst our plants and vegetables to spread some cheer.
We have been keeping positive and focusing on our well being too. We enjoyed some relaxed mindfulness colouring activities outside in the Happy Garden, whilst soaking up some sun. We also made a wish jar. This was a chance for us to think about our wishes and hopes for life after lockdown. We can’t wait to take the wishes out and make them come true.
Crafting has been very popular this week. We made pictures of our families out of sticks and stones and took these home as a keep sake. We also made hypnotic, spiral decorations to hang from the trees in the school grounds.
The highlight of the week was definitely celebrating Mrs Mead’s birthday. We made birthday cakes and had a tea party on the field with ice lollies and a game of rounders.
We have kept active and fit by completing the daily mile and playing games with the parachute. We think the children enjoyed the parachute games best! All in all, we have had a fantastic week full of energy, creativity and most importantly, full of lots of smiles!
