This week we attended the second cross country event and the Mini Youth Games series got under way.
Our cross country girls went to Thamesview School to run the best part of a mile around their fields. All the girls improved with a couple having their first go and we look forward to the series continuing in the spring for the final two events.
Our hockey team attended the largest ever mini Youth Games Hockey tournament, with 47 schools taking part. It was immediately obvious that we had drawn a very tough group and this was proved so with four teams from our group finishing in the top 12.
We started with a fairly comfortable win and then came a couple of tough matches. Warren Wood beat us by one although we didn't take our chances to score. This was consolidated by a couple of tough wins and then we played the eventual winners of the competition, Woodlands, in a physical match in which we just missed out on a draw at 3-2. We went on to finish the day with a win and a draw, again in tough games, and finished in 7th position overall qualifying for the Night of Champions in May.
Well done to the players and supporters and a massive thank you to Roger for helping so positively with the coaching.
