On Tuesday our tag rugby team played in Medway's Mini Youth Games Tag Rugby tournament at Priestfield Rec which is the home of Medway Rugby Club. Tag rugby is a dynamic, fast, non-contact sport for boys and girls and there were 52 schools entered. We played eight of them and all the schools' points were added up in a league system throughout the day.
We started with a loss against a strong side but then came good with a comfortable win and got into our stride. From then on every single game was nail-bitingly close with 2 of the results draws and all the other losses just by one point. This was an excellent day for the team most of whom have never played rugby before and who gelled as a team more and more through the day. Also, every player on the team scored at least two tries in the day showing how well the worked together.
A special mention goes to our 3 girls who played all the way through every game working as hard for the team at the end of the day as they had at the beginning.
Well done to the team. Our final position was 40 out of 52 which, with just a couple more tries, could easily have been twice as high up the table.
