Over the last few weeks we have had two hockey teams in action in the Medway Primary Schools' Hockey League at Gillingham Anchorians Hockey Club. Each team played 10 matches over the course of the league and I would like to thank Harry and Roger for their help with the teams as well as all the supporters at each week.
The B team was made up of some of our year 6s but most were year 5s and 4s looking to get experience for next year and after. They won four of their games and the 6 losses were always narrow defeats mostly by just one goal (they scored 12 and conceded 13). As a team they defended brilliantly, made loads of chances to score in each game and, with a bit more practice, will begin to convert those chance into real goals. Out of 11 they finished a creditable 7th but the league was so close in the middle that just two more wins would have seen them into 3rd place.
The A team stayed together as a unit practising for the night of champions and Kent Schools' Games Finals. They played some stunning hockey as a team and it didn't matter which combination of players were on they were always in charge, building from the back, through the midfielders and to the forwards. They won every game only conceding two goals (one of which was to the our own B team). Well done to all the players and good luck in the forthcoming tournaments.
