On Tuesday 8th we sent our tag rugby team into action in the first mini youth games competition of the year. Following a reorganisation of the events the rugby has come really early in the school year and we went with some of our players having only had 2 practices. The event was huge with 34 schools playing over the whole of the Priestfield recreation ground, home of Medway Rugby Club.
We had 10 12 minute games through the day and our girls played every minute showing great commitment and energy.
By the end of the day, we had won 4 of our matches, drawn one and lost the other five. Only one of those losses was by any significant margin and that was to a very strong St Mary's Island side who went unbeaten the whole day and were comfortable tournament winners. We finished in 18th place and a couple of extra scores in certain matches would have seen us in the top third of places.
The children learnt a lot about rugby and teamwork during the day and were an absolute credit to Miers Court School.
