Thursday this week saw the table tennis team off to Medway Park to take part in the latest in the Mini Youth Games series of events. The tournament was set in the big hall there and when we walked in and saw 24 tables and barriers and scorers and umpires everywhere it felt like being at the Olympics.
Our first game was a tough and nervy affair against local rivals St Margaret's which finished a fair draw. This was followed by another tough match which we won and then the toughest team of all and eventual winners, Pilgrim School. Pilgrim School's girls are about to represent the South of England in the national schools competition and they were outstanding and a pleasure to watch and play against and learn from. This they comfortably won but after that we never looked back and won every game 5 - 1 or 6 - nil. We finished the day 5th out of 33 schools thanks to everyone really working hard and building on the skills our super coach, Roger Chipperfield, has been teaching them all year. Thank you Roger.
We don't normally like to single any one player out but well done to Kyle in his last year at school. He has played number 1 in the team for three years now and this year didn't lose a single leg.
Another Night of Champions event to practise for now team!
