Mini Youth Games Football

On the hottest day of the year so far 52 schools arrived at Anchorian's Recreation Ground to contest the Mini Youth World Cup. Playing as South Korea the event started with a opening parade and then into the group stages. The team started well and grew in confidence throughout the morning finishing comfortably top of their group to go into the last 16.

After lunch came the knockout phase and in the first game several missed chances proved costly as we lost 1-0.

Now we were in the knockout for placings in the world cup. A win on penalties (Holly saved two and scored hers in the sudden death section) followed by two very close 1-0 losses gave us an overall position of 12th. An result and we all want to thank Karen MacLellan for her great football expertise and positive coaching throughout the build-up and on the day.
