We had two teams playing in the Medway Schools' Hockey League hosted by Gillingham Anchorians Hockey Club over the last three weeks. One team (Red) was largely year 5 players building as a team for next year and the other (Black) was largely year 4 with support from our year 6 players.
Our Black team had some tough games in their group and at the finals yesterday played Bredhurst School for 9th or 10th place out of 12 schools.
A close first half finished at 1 all and in the second half The Blacks gathered their attacking skills and finished 3-1 winners and 9th place.
The Red team finished their group in second place and booked a semi-final match against Bryony School. This they won to go into the final against a very strong Cliffe Woods School. Cliffe Woods have won all the Medway Hockey events this year and this was no exception. Despite some stoic defending from the reds and a couple of forays into the opposition half, Cliffe Woods showed why they are worthy winners. However, second place is a fantastic result and hugely promising for next year. Well done both teams and thanks to Roger for helping to manage and encourage the teams so effectively.
