Hockey Night of Champions

Our hockey team attended the Medway Night of Champions at Gillingham Anchorians Hockey Club. They qualified for it by coming fifth earlier in the year at the mini youth games.

It was a hot, yet wet and chilly at times day! Our first opponents were Balfour who had recently beaten us 5-0 in the schools league. This time however was different, they were still a really tough opposition but we beat them 1-0 in a well a fought game. We moved the ball well and kept it moving around them making several chances to increase the scoreline.

1 goal was enough to take us into a semi final clash against Lordswood, another strong team and again we moved the ball well but went  1-0 down to a gaol on the break. Consistent play and hard work brought us level and into a penalty shoot out. Unfortunately we lost this 1-0 on the very final one but it was incredibly close.

In the 3rd/4th playoff we came up against Hempstead and a very tired-looking Miers Court team lost 5-0 to a very attacking side.

4th out of all the schools in Medway and an improvement on our placing in the mini youth games is an achievement to be very proud of.

Well played everyone.
